For a brief 13 days in June of 1964, Jimmie Nicol was asked to do the impossible – fill in as a substitute drummer for the hospitalized Ringo Starr, and this was no small feat. The Beatles – perhaps at the height of their global notoriety – were just 24 hours away from launching their first ever world tour. Plucked from obscurity and thrust into the spotlight, Jimmie Nicol was given a brief taste of fame. After almost two weeks of world recognition, Jimmie Nicol was told thank you and goodbye by The Beatles’ manager and then eventually disappeared.
